Fetal heartbeat at two different places?

Are you asking yourself about whether or not you should call your local cord blood bank?

The concept of cord blood banking has noticed much enhanced acceptance in the past ten years. Nowadays people are giving it serious thought to bank their infant’s cord blood. Years ago, the umbilical cord used to be thrown away after the child was finally born, however with emergent awareness of how valuable the blood of the umbilical cord is, the medical world have now started to store the blood of the umbilical cord in cord blood banks.

After a whole lot of medical research has been done on what could be done with the umbilical cord researchers have discovered that it is actually beneficial to store the umbilical cord in a cord blood bank. The blood from the umbilical cord is quite valuable in treating different diseases associated with the immune system as well as other blood related disorders which people suffer from. Till the mid 1990s the umbilical blood was never stored in a cord blood bank; But after the mid 1990s medical professionals have started to recognize the importance of umbilical blood and are finally spreading knowledge of the need for storing umbilical blood in a cord blood bank.

The developing importance of the Cord blood bank

The basic reason why people are now researching using a cord blood bank is because the umbilical blood is considered to be so precious. This is since it consists of high amount of hematopoietic stem cells and can be stored in the cord blood banks safely for years. The importance of having a high quantity of hematopoietic stem cells is that this precise type of blood is capable of generating new white blood cells and red blood cells. The idea behind the use of cord blood is similar to that of bone marrow transplants which have been in practice for many years. However unlike the bone marrow which needed to be a perfect match with the recipient, the utilization of the umbilical blood does not involve such a perfect match.

There are many increased options for treating an ailment with the use of umbilical blood than there are with the bone marrow transplants since the chances of a patient’s body rejecting the umbilical blood are much less in comparison to his probability of rejecting the bone marrow.

The ongoing stem cell research shows that there are more or less 70 diseases that can be cured with the use of the umbilical cord blood. It is for this reason that more and more people are now starting to squirrel away their baby’s umbilical cord blood in a local cord blood bank. The cord blood is not only helpful for the child whose umbilical cord blood is saved, but this blood can also be employed by various family members of the children as well. The use of umbilical blood is important because research proves that the use of the umbilical blood can facilitate in curing cancer, damaged internal organs as well as some blood disorders, which is one of the primary reasons why a lot of people are opting to utilize a cord blood bank service.

If you want to have your baby’s umbilical blood stored need to pick a cord blood bank well before the birth of your infant due to the fact that not all hospitals are equipped collect and transfer the umbilical blood to the cord blood bank. Therefore you would need to decide the cord blood bank and let your dr know almost 2 months in advance so that you can streamline the course of documentation and preparation for the collection and storage of your baby’s umbilical cord blood to the cord blood bank.

rainyday asked:

I have my own fetal doppler and I started listening to my baby’s heartbeat and found it at 11 weeks. I am currently at 15 weeks and have heard the heartbeat on the right AND left side of my belly. It used to be only one side, but now, I hear it on both sides. I know I don’t have twins because I’ve had ultrasounds done already. Does anyone know why I hear heartbeats on both sides? I know it’s not my own heartbeat because it’s 150-156 beats per minute. I’ve heard that it could be the cord blood that I am hearing. If anyone knows why this is, please advise. Thank you.

As the baby grows, the heart gets stronger, so you can hear it from further away.

Babies move all over the place, and just the baby flipping over can cause the heartbeat to be found somewhere else. And even though it may not sound like your own heartbeat it can be, I had none stress test 3 times a week when I was pregnant with my 3rd, and a lot of times they would find what they thought was the babies, and it was mine.

Very possible that one of the beats you’re hearing is coming from the cord. Very common & not a problem. Last time my midwife couldn’t get the baby’s heartbeat, so she took the measurment from the cord. It’s the same as the baby’s, of course.
