Are you pondering about whether or not you should call the local cord blood bank?
The notion of cord blood banking has seen much enhanced acceptance in the past ten years. Nowadays people are thinking about whether they can bank their infant’s cord blood. Years ago, the umbilical cord used to be abandoned after the child was finally delivered, however with developing awareness of how beneficial the blood of the umbilical cord is, the medical professionals have now started to store the blood of the umbilical cord in cord blood banks.
After a ton of medical research has been performed on what can be done with the umbilical cord researchers have determined that it is very good to store the umbilical cord in a cord blood bank. The blood from the umbilical cord is exceedingly beneficial in dealing with various diseases related to the immune system and also other blood related disorders which people suffer with. Till relatively recently the umbilical blood was never stored in a cord blood bank; however after the mid 1990s Scientists have began to understand the significance of umbilical blood and are finally sharing awareness of the need for storing umbilical blood in a cord blood bank.
The expanding importance of the Cord blood bank
The most basic reason why people are now researching using a cord blood bank is because the umbilical blood is considered to be so precious. This is because it has high amount of hematopoietic stem cells and can be stored in the cord blood banks safely for years. The importance of having a high quantity of hematopoietic stem cells is that this particular type of blood is capable of generating new white blood cells and red blood cells. The science behind the use of cord blood is similar to that of bone marrow transplants which have been in practice for many years. However unlike the bone marrow which has to be matched perfectly, the utilization of the umbilical blood does not involve such a perfect match.
There are many increased options for treating an ailment with the use of umbilical blood than there have ever been with the bone marrow transplants since the chances of a patient’s body rejecting the umbilical blood are much less in comparison to his probability of rejecting the bone marrow.
The sustained stem cell research shows that there are almost 70 diseases that can be cured with the use of the umbilical cord blood. It is for this reason that ever more people are finally starting to keep their baby’s umbilical cord blood in a local cord blood bank. The cord blood is not only helpful for the child whose umbilical cord blood is stored, but this blood can also be useful to the family members of the children as well. The use of umbilical blood is vital due to the fact that research has proved that the use of the umbilical blood can aid in treating cancers, damaged internal organs as well as some blood disorders, which is one of the main reasons why a good deal of people are starting to make use of a cord blood bank service.
Anyone who wishes to have their baby’s umbilical blood stored really should try to choose a cord blood bank well before the delivery of your baby due to the fact that not all hospitals are equipped collect and convey the umbilical blood to the cord blood bank. Therefore you would need to pick the cord blood bank and inform your doctor roughly 2 months in advance so that you can streamline the process of documentation and preparation for the collection and storage of your baby’s umbilical cord blood to the cord blood bank.
I am doing a persuasive essay about Bioethics in Therapeutic Cloning of a Human embryo for the use of Stem Cells. The debate I have chosen is “Does cloning to create stem cells, also called therapeutic cloning, justify destroying a human embryo? Why should we, or why should we not clone human embryos to create stem cells?
I am unsure of which side of the debate I am on so I need to know the pros and cons to help me decide.

my view – no offense to anyone:
playing with embryos is wrong. there is all this outrage over ‘baby p’ and how he was tortured… who decided that playing with potential human life was right? abortion is just wrong and stupid – looking at all the murdered foetuses that have been put on the internet will show you that. now all embryos have the potential to grow into a normal adult – so does a newborn baby, so does a 6 year old, and we all agree it is wrong to kill even an adult. playing with helpless embryos is wrong. it just is. search your conscience – only you can decide for you.
